Well, I’ve bitten the bullet and enrolled in a 5 week WEA course called “Sewing for Beginners”. A chance to find out if I do have any kind of talent in me, after all it’s been a long time since year 8 home economics classes (I made a pillowcase!).
Apparently I’m going to: “Learn all steps to a finished garment from cutting your material. Save money by making clothes for yourself and your family.” The only problem is, I need to bring my own sewing machine to all classes…. Sounds like it should be fun, just need to find someone willing to lend me a sewing machine on Tuesday nights.

Ingredients:
Kimchi
a little mushrooms
50g of shrimp
one egg
onion
100g of green onions
1/2 of a red pepper or any vegetables you like
Dough:
1 cup of flour
3 tablespoons of glutinous rice powder (optional)
1 egg
little bit of salt
water(a little)
Cooking directions
1. Cut mushrooms and onion, chop Kimchi to slices. (Leave kimchi-water separately in a bowl)
2. Drain out the water from the shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cover with flour
3. Use flour that mixes with some glutinous rice powder and put a little water.(or In Korean grocery, they sell “buchim-garu” flour which mixed flour/glutionous rice powder/salt already. If you have this, just need egg and water)
4. If there is kimchi-water left, mix it to the flour.
5. Prepare the dough by mixing each ingredient.
6. Add cooking oil on the hot pan and pour a scoop of the dough and place green onions on the top
7. fry them. Flip over when one side is done cooking and cook the other side. (If you like crispy one, push strongly during fry).
To make a Seafood-Jun use seafood instead of Kimchi.
If you want to serve ‘Jun’ with dipping sauce, mix two spoons of soy, one spoon of vinegar, 1/4 spoon of sugar in a small bowl.

A friend told me about kittenwar, a site where you decide which cat is the cutest. I decided that I’d submit our Lucy to see if she’d get accepted, and she did! She’s coming out on top most of the time.

On Friday night Adelaide’s Botanic Park came alive again once more to host the amazing outdoor world music festival that is Womadelaide. For many years I thought that WOMAD was an acronym for World Music Adelaide; in a sense it is, for at least three days out of every year. It was much to my surprise to discover that WOMAD was actually an abbreviation of World Music and Dance, a festival that is held in many nations… not just in Australia.
My Womadelaide journey began at around seven when I entered the venue through the Frome Gate and was transported into a pulsating musical hub. Botanic Park was transformed. Colourful flags on large bamboo poles had been erected, lights were strung up in the trees, and there were people everywhere. When Womad comes to town, it really comes to town. No less than six stages had been erected! I’m sure there were only four stages last time, and the Speaker’s Corner stage was definitely a welcome addition with it’s ambient lighting and tranquil surrounds. The global display also featured, (for a variety of aid organisations such as Oxfam, Wilderness Australia and AusAID to share their message with the people) the global food area, the global art & craft stalls, kidzone and the healing village. If you’ve never witnessed this transformation before then you certainly are missing out.

A while ago I got an email from a friend of mine about a recipe exchange:
This is a recipe exchange (better than all those chain letters)!
Please send a recipe to the person whose name is listed in the number 1 position below (preferable something quick, easy, few ingredients).
Then copy this letter into a new email, move my name to the number 1 position, and put your name in number 2 position. Only your name and mine should appear in this list when you send out your email.
Send this to 10 friends. You should receive 36 recipes. It is fun to see where these recipes come from. Seldom does anyone drop out because we can all use new recipes. The turn around is fast because only 2 names are on the list.
Thanks and enjoy!!
I am pleased to say that I’ve just received my second recipe from this in my email tonight. How exciting! I’ll post it up next.
