2:37

2:37 by Murali K Thalluri
The complex tale of six high school students whose lives are interwoven with many situations confronting today’s youth…
At 2.37 one afternoon, a student commits suicide in the toilets of an Australian high school. We don’t learn who it is until the end of the film. But there are several candidates. As we know from countless other teenage movies, high schools are hazardous places. Even if they haven’t been colonised by zombies, menaced by werewolves or targeted by serial killers, they’re certain to be harbouring a species of bully whose bite is just as lethal.
I first saw a preview for this film on ABC television’s At The Movies. This tv show would have to be the show I most trust when I look for reviews on any films. The moment I saw the preview and heard Margaret and David’s reviews of it I knew I HAD to see it. So Saturday night, with a couple of hours spare after seeing a dance performance I headed off to the cinema.I knew that this was going to be an intense film. It was. It was raw, nasty. It bites. But, I loved it. I really loved it. That being said, I haven’t seen the film Elephant which is apparently quite similar to 2:37.I’d buy the DVD of this. For sure. I’m looking forward to seeing more of this director’s films. See more about 2:37
