Camping

love-zh.pngThis is the traditional Chinese character for love (愛) consists of a heart (middle) inside of “accept”, “feel”, or “perceive”, which shows a graceful emotion.

That’s how I’m feeling at the moment. On top of the world.

Yay, we’re going camping this weekend. The weather looks like it’s going to be okay:

Saturday Min 8 Max 25 Fine. Mostly sunny.
Sunday Min 14 Max 25 Shower or two.
Monday Min 10 Max 20 Fine. Partly cloudy.

Heading off to the Chookarloo campsite that’s part of Kuitpo forest. Taking some mountain bikes, camping gear and Africa (the basenji). I can’t wait. Only about 3 hours until I’m out of here!

Personalise your office space

As you all know, working in an office can be somewhat draining, you’re indoors all day, you’re sitting in a little box shaped space with no windows. How do you counteract the effect of a corporate environment on your creativity?

Here are my tips:

* Personalise your space with postcards, photos and posters.
* Bring some stuff in from home to make you feel more comfortable

On my desk you can find:

        1. A photo of my world vision sponsor child - Odilia from Guatemala
        2. Two blue hippos
        3. Two fairy wands (one pink, one silver) - you never know when you might need some magic
        4. My Tardis money box
        5. My mug (white and purple with a ladybug on it and the saying “lucky like a lady”)

        * Wear clothes that reflect your personalityI’ve put some new postcards up recently, here are their messages:

        1. It’s not too late to change your mind
        2. Speakup! Everyone has a right to complain
        3. Change the world for ten bucks
        4. Red rags to a bully : a community play about work place bullying
        5. 10 tips to stress less
        6. There’s a better way to earn a crust
        7. It takes someone special

        Have a great day!

        Wheel of life

The Wheel of life keeps on turning and another day, week, month, year passes us by. The past week has been yet another crazy busy one with all sorts of excitement and challenges.

My dear friend Annie’s mother died this week after a long battle with cancer. My thoughts and love go to you Annie, and to your family. The time in limbo is over for you my dear, the grief process started some time ago, but now, you can truly start the healing process and become your own person.

Yesterday I took Annie out to Ying Chow, one of my favourite Chinese restaurants. She tried salt and pepper bean curd for the first time and it was a hit. The boy ordered a crocodile dish and I, being all up for trying new things, ate some. It was a combination between fish and chicken. More of a fishy texture, but with a taste more similar to chicken, but blander. Crikey!
