Ugh, what a day

Spent another day in bed, in the bathroom, on the couch with what I think might have been food poisoning. Got home last night from a party and went and threw up. Crashed out asleep, woke up this morning and ugh. Headache, nausea, gut pains, vomiting and last but not least diarrhoea. I’ve only now just been able to get it together to make some toast with vegemite. I hope it stays down.

On other news, I have some of my Canberra photos on Flickr that have been included in a Schmap guide.

The boy bought the dog a new collar today, it’s red with silver studs. She looks like a rock dog now!

More lying down for me now I think. I’ve got such a headache.

Librarian 2.0 Manifesto

The Librarians

ABC TV is to boost its Australian content next year, scheduling an extra 40 hours of locally-produced drama and documentary programming with the help of new government funding.

One of these TV programs is The Librarians - written, produced and starring Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope, will feature six half-hour episodes following two librarians working towards the biggest event on their work calendar, book week. I can’t WAIT to see this. One problem, no TV! Might have to go next door and watch it at Uncle Jeffrey’s.

haiku challenge

My friend Mango’s father Rob likes to call me “Katie the Poet”. He’s been calling me that for years, I think it started sometime back in high school, around 1993 or 1994. The boy and I caught up with Mango and Simon a couple of weeks ago and Mango told me her Dad had been asking about “Katie the Poet”, so I thought it was time that I dropped Rob a line or two in email. So here started the haiku challenge.

I wrote this and emailed it to Rob, he replied and passed it around to his partner, Mango and his son in law.

stone walls you do build
how high do they reach, the sky?
perhaps some concrete

Some of the haiku’s that got written and sent around in email, shocking! Here’s a sample:

You guys are all nuts
Have you not got work to do?
Still it cheers the day

U R all nuts 2
rlly vry sane
Luv 2 U frm moi

I retaliated with a haiku written during the thunderstorm we just had here in Adelaide.

the season has changed
lightening bright thunder loud
rain falls from above
