Ugh, what a day

Spent another day in bed, in the bathroom, on the couch with what I think might have been food poisoning. Got home last night from a party and went and threw up. Crashed out asleep, woke up this morning and ugh. Headache, nausea, gut pains, vomiting and last but not least diarrhoea. I’ve only now just been able to get it together to make some toast with vegemite. I hope it stays down.

On other news, I have some of my Canberra photos on Flickr that have been included in a Schmap guide.

The boy bought the dog a new collar today, it’s red with silver studs. She looks like a rock dog now!

More lying down for me now I think. I’ve got such a headache.

Horoscope for November 14

Romance blossoms for you today, Katie. If you’re single, a walk around your neighborhood could put you in touch with someone new and exciting. If you’re involved, you and your significant other could be planning a short trip out of town, perhaps a weekend getaway. The trip may be partly related to business in some way. This is also a great time to write, even if it’s only a letter to your mother. Have a great time!

This was actually pretty spot on. I did go for a walk, my significant other and I are planning a short trip out of town, he’s coming up to Brisbane with me, whilst I’m away for work (travel and business, and a weekend in the middle). I wrote a letter too, but not to Mum.

Things are a little quiet on the blogging front right now, due to the fact that I’m in Melbourne for work. I’m back in Adelaide on Friday 17th. However, if you want to catch me, you better be quick, because I’m going to Brisbane on Tuesday 28th November.

Call centres and phone banking

Call centres and phone banking used to be about pressing numbers to go where you wanted to go, now, it seems that everyone is implementing a voice recognition system where you have to SAY things at the computer system at the other end. It’s seriously annoying. With keypad entries you used to be able to fast forward to the exact spot that you wanted! Now you have to sit there on the phone saying one or two word answers to silly questions and then you feel like a complete TWAT especially when you’re at work.

Not only that, you enter your number using the keypad on the phone and then by the time you get to a REAL person they seem to have no recollection of it. Gak! Not only that, I got bounced around to 3 different people before I found someone that could help me with my enquiry.

When I was in Canberra last week I discovered that Canberra Cabs (seriously the worst taxi company I’ve ever had to use) has a voice recognition system. I had to wait 30 mins for a taxi to take me to the airport (nearly missing my flight I might add, oh the power of bursting into tears at the bag drop counter - okay, so I really wanted to go home and there were no other flights until SATURDAY MORNING!). If you want to get through to the REAL PERSON at the end of the computer system instructions, you can just say “hurry the fuck up” and the computer system comes back and says “I’m sorry, I do not understand your request transferring you to a consultant now”.

Now, for new website things, splatter kat has a favicon, look up in the address bar! A red star! Yay!

Camping

love-zh.pngThis is the traditional Chinese character for love (愛) consists of a heart (middle) inside of “accept”, “feel”, or “perceive”, which shows a graceful emotion.

That’s how I’m feeling at the moment. On top of the world.

Yay, we’re going camping this weekend. The weather looks like it’s going to be okay:

Saturday Min 8 Max 25 Fine. Mostly sunny.
Sunday Min 14 Max 25 Shower or two.
Monday Min 10 Max 20 Fine. Partly cloudy.

Heading off to the Chookarloo campsite that’s part of Kuitpo forest. Taking some mountain bikes, camping gear and Africa (the basenji). I can’t wait. Only about 3 hours until I’m out of here!
