Lo-Fi London

I am always on the look out for new things to do in my beautiful new city. Today I discovered the fabulous Lo-Fi London, a guide to the capital through ‘Lomo Eyes’. And obviously through the eyes of someone with incredible taste in… well, pretty much everything. It’s been put together by Tommy of the [...]

Swatch portraits

Oooh! These are so pretty! The Purl Bee has posted a how-to guide so you can decorate your walls with these beautiful swatch portraits. They look easy enough for someone as unco and impatient as me to make. Love them.

Frozen Peas

I bought a wooden bird badge a few weeks ago and only just realised it was by Frozen Peas. From Portland, they make some really pretty, funny, interesting things. I really like the t-rex holding the rifle. Ridiculous, I know. Anyway, you can buy stuff from their site, Hannah Zakari, the Cut + Paste shop and even [...]

Showpony

Emma from Showpony stopped by earlier and I followed the link from her comment to her great blog and gorgeous Etsy shop. I love this bugs purse (it just looks like a pretty garden print but open the folds to see what lurks beneath) and the seasons purse below. She also has some lovely cushions [...]

Paper Cloud

Paper Cloud is a website featuring work from a group of designers from Cincinnati, Ohio. There’s cushions, journals and art for sale, all with the same naive drawings of flowers and plants and stuff. They use some really nice colours too.

Make Me

I’m having a quiet day at the office today. In fact, I’m bored out of my mind and I’ve got nothing to do but blog (evident by my barrage of posts). One thing I’m quite excited about this week is Make Me, a three month series of exhibitions and events showcasing work by Manchester’s finest makers of contemporary art, [...]

I Love Monica Lee

ILML is a website that sells really pretty one-of-a-kind handbags and totes. The above bags have all been sold but she takes custom orders and if you sign up to the mailing list I’m sure she’ll let you know when there’s new stock. Lovely!

Karissa Cove

Ontario is in Canada, second bit from the right (sandwiched between Manitoba and Quebec). And somewhere in its depths, among the mooses (say it aloud and tell me it’s not better than moose) and the bears, lives Karissa Cove. I hereby herald Karissa my new queen of craft because her totes, pouches and fleece scarves [...]

Scoops

My latest favourite purchase has to be the super cute ghost brooch by Scoops (above left). Another Sydney-based artist, Sophie Cooper is a UTS graduate who’s worked in TV and design. She started designing and making brooches for her friends and now sells them through her website and design shop YTBA (which also sells some of [...]

Papa Stour

Papa Stour was conceived when designer and stylist Rosie Brown had an idea to create an online shop which was both modern and inspirational. Papa Stour only features pieces by Scottish designers. The above pins are by Kaz Robertson and I’m smitten.

Katie Muth

Katie Muth reminds me quite a bit of Nikki McClure, which can only be a good thing. The above prints are part of a line of greeting cards. The series follows a calendar year, with images for the seasons and special occasions like mother’s day. You can buy them online here and here, and in [...]

Little Flower Designs

Little Flower Designs is owned and run from home by Linda Johnson from Abbington, PA. Everything is handmade, and most of it’s made-to-order (important information if you’re planning Christmas gifts). She also does bowls and vases and can custom make pieces for you. Lovely.

Nikki McClure

Nikki McClure‘s pretty much the best thing ever. Based in Olympia, Washington, she’s known for her intricate paper cuts. Every image is painstakingly cut from a single sheet of paper, and creates bold and complex statements. The images above are taken from her 2007 calendar, The Time Is Now, which you can buy from [...]

My Favourite Mirror

I’ve been looking for a cute pocket mirror for a little while. I really love these pretties from My Favourite Mirror. The above designs were done by two of my favourite illustrators, Susie Ghahremani from Boygirl Party and Jen Corace. The designs below are by the amazing Katy Horan, momomoogie and Seam Ripper. Yoyo Ceramics

I have a bit of a thing for apples and pears, so when I saw these amazing kitchen tidies (is that the correct pluralisation?) I almost died. London company Yoyo Ceramics sells these in sets (an apple and a pear) and they come in four great colours. I bought the mint green set but I want them all [...]

Walk about three metres from my front gate and you’re at the Manchester Craft and Design Centre. A unique organisation comprising 18 retail/studio spaces, the MCADC also has an excellent cafe and a rolling programme of exhibitions from leading national and international makers of original contemporary craft.    One of my favourite studios/stores belongs to [...]
