Vanessa and I went to Columbia Road Flower Market and then had a lovely lunch at Towpath on Sunday. This is the best summer I’ve had in this country and I don’t want it to end.

Adam and Tarik are my two new BFFs. Once a week (workload permitting), we go on a lunch safari together. This involves picking a direction and walking and walking and walking until we find somewhere new for lunch. The first time we did it was the best (isn’t that always the case?). We wondered for [...]

I know I promised a photo onslaught but I’ve been too busy having fun to finish my rolls of film. Next week, my pretties. Next week.

I’m not sure there is a greater pleasure in the world than biting into a rose or raspberry macaron from Ladurée. I picked these up at Harrods this afternoon amid London’s squalling spring rain and then ate them when the sun came out. Magical.

Travelling for me is pretty much all about the food. Actually, that sums up my life in general. So my main priority for New York City was eating. Here’s a fairly comprehensive list of what we ate and where. MIDTOWN/EAST VILLAGE/LOWER EAST SIDE The Breslin 16 W 29th St Part of the super cool Ace [...]

I’m such a stickler for things having a reason for being, for heritage and depth. I find so often in the work I do that people want beautiful things but with no rhyme or reason. In my opinion, this kind of superficiality is obvious immediately. People always see through it. That’s why I was so [...]

Do you ever have those moments where you rediscover blogs you’ve had bookmarked for ages, only to realise that they’re actually the most beautiful things in the world? This happened to me with Vanessa. She’s from Brisbane which was my home for four years and she posts the most incredible things. I always read her [...]

I’m so excited! My copy of Frankie magazine‘s afternoon tea cookbook just arrived in the mail. It features 40 cake, biscuit, tart and slice recipes that have been handed down from grandmothers or mothers, all beautifully shot in a way that’s unmistakably Frankie. One of the best parts about it is that in the back [...]

The new edition of Inside Out looks fantastic. I absolutely love that picture on the front cover. I should apologise for my absence these past few days. We went down to London and ate some incredible food (including the best meal I’ve EVER eaten), did some awesome star-spotting (Slash! Yes, THAT Slash), and went [...]

One of my absolute favourite finds of the weekend was Vintage Heaven on Columbia Road. If you’re a regular reader of this site, you’ll be familiar with my penchant for vintage ceramics. Well, imagine my delight at finding an entire store devoted to them! I get the impression Vintage Heaven hasn’t been open long as [...]

I went to Yorkshire on the weekend and came home with a bunch of photos, a cold and a mountain of self-pity. Thus, I’m thinking about eating nothing but soup for the next week and what better way to do so than with a sandwich oozing melted cheese? I love this soup and sandwich plate [...]

Could this be the best thing ever? Okay, maybe not but cupcakes that look like ice cream cones with perfect frosting and sprinkles are pretty awesome. I don’t think $32 is too much to pay for one (or two) of life’s great pleasures. Do you?

[Images © La tartine gourmande] One of the biggest categories in my bloglines is food. I’m subscribed to feeds from about a million different food blogs and spend hours every day drooling. Here are some of my favourites: Chocolate & Zucchini – Clotilde Dusoulier is a 27-year-old Parisian. She shares her love of food through beautiful [...]

In case you’re interested, I did end up baking last night. I made a delicious loaf of chocolate banana bread from Bill Granger’s unpunctuated Bills Food (it pains me to write that). Anyway, here’s the recipe: Choc Banana Bread 250g (2 cups) plain flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 125g (4 ½ oz) unsalted butter, softened 250 [...]

Yep, I’m still thinking about Paris. In fact, I’m so into the Parisian spirit today that I’m wearing a pretty vintage dress I bought for €10 somewhere near Centre Georges Pompidou, and a cute brooch I bought at a jewellery store called Tou Main. I’ve even brought my moleskin city guide (best purchase ever!) with me so I [...]

One of the best meals I had while away was my chicken salad from Le Réfectoire. It was absolutely massive and only €12. The combination of chicken, pomegranate, sundried tomato, cheese, mushroom, and red and yellow pepper was just right. It was stunning. Then we had creme brulee au chocolat for dessert which was perfect. I didn’t take any [...]

I’ve been way too busy watching The Sopranos to post. I’m finally up to season six and it’s pretty much the best thing ever. Anyway, I just wanted to post this beautiful coffee press and mug from Rare Device. I think I love the colour more than anything. It comes in orange, red and black [...]

Oh Joy! recently posted about her friend who’s started her own business. Mari’s New York creates “luxuriously rich, artisinal fudgy brownies” that look absolutely devine. With classic, classic with nuts, caramel with sea salt (intriguing), coconut, Thai coffee, heat, and blonde bombshell flavours, you’ll have trouble choosing just one flavour! They come in a range of different sized [...]

I think I should create a tag just for cake. I know I write about it a lot but it really is one of my favourite things. And anyway, this post isn’t so much about eating cake but carrying it. Cup-a-Cake is a unique container that holds a frosted cupcake in place with protrusions positioned to [...]

I’m utterly obsessed with the idea of high tea. I’m not sure there’s anything more glamorous. The Ritz in London is considered the ultimate high tea experience. They offer five sittings every day of the year, with a special champagne afternoon tea at 7.30pm. However, they suggest you book at least six weeks in advance. [...]

Since the Magnolia Bakery (located in New York’s west village) featured in Sex and the City, cupcakes have experienced a bit of a revival. And even though everyone I’ve spoken to who’s been says Magnolia Bakery’s fare have too much icing and are way too sweet, the line to get in still trails around the block until 11pm every night. If [...]
