This morning I told someone I spent my weekend sorting through six years’ worth of negatives. “Negative thoughts?” he asked. And they could’ve been. Because it’s hard not to lament, to mourn the past.

But what I had spread out in front of me for two days (and what is now filed chronologically in folders) was a visual record of faces that have come and gone, faces that have come and stayed, of a changing relationship with two cities. Six years of a good life lived that’s really visible when held up to the light.

it’s nice to revisit those moments, rethink what made them special enough to capture in the first place, isn’t it? though it is crazy time-consuming, it’s totally worth it…

yes. we just moved to a new house/new city (we lived in our last one for 12 years) and unpacking all the things we had in storage, and coming across miles of memories in photos, in ceramics, in art, and in books. in things that constitute the life (lives) you have lived. i bet your images were stunning, even in negative. p.s. i love the rain.

I need a sort. In fact, I’m way overdue for a sort.

You know what? Whether it’s through your words, photos or actions, you always impress and inspire me, young lady. You have accomplished A LOT over the past 6 years, much more than most.
