Album art: Arcade Fire & Tracy Maurice

Tracy Maurice is the artist behind the beautiful illustrations on The Arcade Fire’s award-winning debut album, Funeral. In fact, Tracy’s won an award too – a Juno for best album art. She’s quite a hard one to find information on, but I believe she’s a Tokyo-based Canadian, and her illustrations are just lovely.

Hello Tracy,

first, I konw very little about art but loved the work you have done with Arcade fire. Your work , especially when viewed on the full-size 12″ ,captures so beautifully one of my favourite records of the past 10 years. Like most people i know , when i buy music, I whack the tunes on and then study the CD / album. What I love about your work on Funeral is that I keep looking at it from different angles and seeing it in new ways. I only wish more musicians placed the faith in Artists like yourself to present themselves to the public.

Anyway, thanks for enhancing my life with your work.

Is there a way in which I can buy prints of your work ?

Please let me know if this is possible.

regards,

John Feeney

Hi Tracy,

I’ve got a weird request. I am a HUGE Kissaway Trail fan and have even traveled from NYC to Denmark to see them play twice! AND.. I love your artwork.

I want to ask you if you would be interested/willing to draw me a tattoo?

Is this crazy?
Rob

Rob, I was thinking of asking the exact same thing!
So many times I’ve been inspired by the Funeral cover to draw tattoo designs, but I’m never quite happy with them.
