Do you guys ever get these? I swear to god I got one (or at least the leather accessory equivalent) when I saw these bags by nutsa modebadze. So pretty.

English summer

Last night my total nerd housemate was telling me how often people forget that June in the UK is traditionally one of the wettest months. And so while this outfit that Whitney over at the amazing Darling Dexter put together is meant for spring, it’s actually pretty perfect for a rainy English summer.
Anyone for Pimms?

ohoy

This wallpaper by Fine Little Day is adorable.

Ship on ship is surely the interior equivalent to double denim.

Locals and tourists

Have you guys seen these amazing maps by Eric Fischer? They show the photos taken by tourists (red) vs locals (blue).

See more here.

London

Some random snaps from the last few weeks. The light here in summer in amazing. Actually, this whole city in summer is a sight to behold.

All These Things

Australian pop singer Darren Hanlon‘s dancing is just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

This amazing video was directed by Natalie van den Dungen, the lady who unwittingly gave me the idea for my tattoo (which I haven’t got yet, don’t worry Mum) when I spent a weird day with her and Darren in LA last year. Special.

Liam Sparkes

These tattoos are crazy good (some just plain crazy). They’re all by Liam Sparkes who works at Shangri-La on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch.

Paint by numbers

Remember how ape you all went for the last paint by numbers house? Well this couple have gone one better: their bedroom is full of nautical paint by numbers paintings.

Where the hell can I find some of these? (Ok, I just looked on eBay and found the answer…)

I’m having a conundrum. Tie dye. I mean, really? Tie dye? But look at it? Look at how much it looks like space! And space is rad. But it’s tie dye. But look what Anabela from fieldguided did with tye die and she’s cool. I cannot believe that this is even something I’m devoting my time thinking about but I guess you guys don’t come here because I tackle the big issues (even though, COME ON GUYS, it’s tie dyed!).

And just so you know, I think I’ve decided that I’m (pretty much) totally ok with this.

El Scorchio

London is baking hot today but I’m stuck inside at work and it sucks. All I can think about is ice cream and beaches and swimming and beaches and swimming and ice cream (but mostly ice cream).

Banana Bread

One of my favourite things to eat and now one of my new favourite illustrators; I spotted the Banana Bread stall at the Backyard Market on Brick Lane yesterday and wanted to buy the lot.

Sweet summer

How sweet is this girl’s look? She was snapped on the street in Zurich last autumn but I think her outfit’s perfect for summer.

My friend Stu got married this week. He met his long time love when she was his manager at the Burger King they worked at in their teens. More than a decade and two beautiful kids later, they’re finally tying the knot. I love how nothing these days is as straight forward as it used to be and that the new tradition is not to follow tradition but to follow your heart.

Sorry for my absence this week. I’ve been dealing with post-wedding hangovers, deadlines, house hunting, the launch of the Olympic mascots (I work for the agency that designed them. Have you seen them? What do you think?), planning for month-long sojourns to the motherland, lovely friends and beautiful summer days. And while I’d love to hang around, it’s 27 degrees (that’s about 81 my American friends) and I’m meeting a friend for Sunday lunch and then hitting Brick Lane.

Life is pretty beautiful right now, don’t you think?

Topshop Make-up design

I’ve already posted about Topshop‘s nail polish, but here’s a look at the rest of their new make-up range. The packaging is designed by Sarah Thorne, an in-house designer at Topshop. Isn’t it lush?

Picasso

I have a weird kind of crush on Picasso. I can’t really explain it but there was just something about him.
Did you know he drew the above picture when he was 12? 12! And apparently his first word was pencil.

Topshop sunglasses

Ok, so get this. As the weather warms up, something happens to my eyes. At certain times of the year they suddenly get all attractive. But not to boys. Oh no, that would be too easy. Instead, they are irresistible to BUGS.

I swear, they just can’t keep away. And I’ll be walking down the street, minding my own business and then BAMMMMMM a bug will literally fly INTO my eye where it will die. DIE. Bugs die in my eyes! Gross, right? It’s so embarrassing and painful and GROSS. Yesterday it happened right outside Topshop so I had to run in to find a mirror. Today I went to the shop to buy biscuits and a bee (A BEE!!) headed (made a bee line!) straight for my face. Luckily I have excellent reactions and I swatted it away before it got me. Kamikaze bees, guys! What the hell?

So now I have vowed to wear sunglasses whenever I am outside. It is the only way. I’m just lucky there are so many cute options out there, like these in pale green and lemon from Topshop. Sheesh!
